It’s official, fashion has developed a natural affinity for fuss-free, streamlined style this spring and Robert Sever’s latest collection called, ‘Julija,’ was no exception to the trend. Sever opened Bipa with his distinctive signature chic style, wow-ing fans and newcomers. He is known as the ‘go-to‘ designer for the modern woman and one thing Robert understands is that women might want to be strong one day, soft another, this theme was prevalent throughout the collection.

Team State of Style were there to support Sever and we are absolutely thrilled to bring you this review.

Here are 5 things you need to know about the Robert Sever SS17 Collection

Did the 70s flash before our eyes? We think so and we loved every moment of it! Is there anything more beautiful than a feminine floaty dress that is not only flattering on the body, but a statement piece in itself? It was all about graphic romance with beautiful silks, soft botanical prints and pretty pussy-bow blouses with bell or tied sleeves that stopped the effect from being too overwhelming by being teamed up with vintage-look denim. Some looks were kept casual and toned down with cross-body strap bags and others held a delightful contrast of cotton and linen styled together while the show stoppers were naturally, digitally printed  silks.

It went from floral prints and colbat blues to pastel pinks and aqua into key denim pieces, a boldness which sliced through the femininity. The Team at State of Style were in awe of the incredibly wearable slim tailored trousers but Sever also accommodated for the woman who doesn’t see eye to eye with a cigarette pant by adding loose fitting boyfriend-style jeans.

Another trend we noticed was that ruffles ruled at Sever and whether they were laced on the hemline or placed strategically on a print blouse, we loved it!

It’s all about details these days and we were drooling over the camisoles and blouses with tie detail at the back and on the sleeves, giving you the option to style your look to two extremes, structured or chic. Take a look at this long sleeve blouse worn by our favourite sweetheart, Gordana Dude.

Oh Gordana, we see you girl & love you!

Pleats have been around forever but great pleats, not so much. Adding to the modern feminine chic, Sever did an impeccable job combining two themes throughout his latest spring collection, botanical prints and pleats, sure to be a hit with the A-list.

Beautifully draped and plunging necklines are always a show stopping statement and naturally there were some uber-romantic, show-stopping pieces destined for the red carpet.

THAT Sever Signature Piece

Sever is a designer reprised for the work he is best known for and his embellished headbands have always had the country talking! We love when a designer continues to reinvent a piece that works for everyone and this season was no exception. Models were sent down the runway in a new season of embellished headbands and jewel embellished straps on a new line of uber-chic shoulder bags.

Personally, I don’t know how any woman could possibly choose one, I want them all!
